Welcome to a new school year! I can't wait to meet you, new 2nd grader! I've been working in our classroom to get it ready for you and a fun year.
I can't wait to learn all about you. Here are some things about me you might like to know:
*I love to tell stories, and to hear other people tell their stories. Stories are my favorite things.
*I love Brain Breaks - these are fun things we do in class sometimes when we have time. They're little dances or exercises to wake our brains up!
*I love to play games! Any time I can think of a fun way to turn learning into a game, that's what I like to do.
*I love Social Studies and Science. You are going to learn so many cool things this year!
*I have a little girl who's going to be a 1st grader. Her name is Melissa and I've got lots of silly stories to tell you about her.
*I have high expectations for good behavior, and I love to give surprises to kids who work hard and try their best.
*I love M&Ms, Diet Coke, grapes and apples, Chic-Fil-A, Starbucks coffee, but most of all? I love giving hugs to awesome kids in 2nd grade and I love getting hugs!
We've got a lot of work to do, of course--you come to school to learn and that means working. You'll be reading and writing a lot, and doing math. This year, you'll have quizzes AND you'll be getting letter grades for the first time (A=Awesome, B=Beautiful, C=Okay, D=Do better, U=Uh oh!). But I promise we'll try to have as much fun as we can in between the hard paper/pencil/computer work, okay?
Can't wait to meet you and get to know you--I have a feeling this is going to be a stunningly great school year!
Love,
Ms. Samson
